“How to do things with art”-- Mix different things to make it weird
Proposal:
As I learnt from the OI lesson, to do with art, we can isolate objects from their normal contexts. Therefore, I decided to make a short animation (about 1 min) combing Biology and usual life-- connecting the relation between packed cells of living things and the congested trains at peak hours. It blends motion pictures and real filming together.
Luis Buñuel puts unrelated stories together to make a surrealistic film without any logic behind it. Though it seems that every event is separated, there are some similarities between the scenes and objects, which are linked by metaphor. For instance, the action of cutting off the female's lens is just like the cloud passes the full moon.
Moreover, some unrelated living things appear in a weird place suddenly, like having ants moving on a man's hand. This constructs a creepy scene but it raises audience curiosity to see what happens next.
This film triggers me to make a strange but attractive art with surrealistic style, just like the idea of this.
This animation combines reality shooting and traditional animation. Instead of shooting a video, the producer uses stop motion to display the reality part, which makes the reality and 2D animation parts become more consistent.
I was impressed how the artists made this animation. It looks like the characters on the paper are given lives in the reality. Though the drawing is simple, it attracts people look at it due to the innovative animating way.
It is so powerful and I want to use similar presenting method for my ISP.
This uses the similar presentation way as the previous animation. However, this shows a better transaction of the reality and virtual worlds, which is a good reference.
These two video are so appealing is because of the extension of imagination they show. Therefore, I also need to add more interesting scenes so that it can impress the audience.

The background of the animation is in real but the characters are in 2D animation. However, it does not look very weird too.
Therefore, I believe if I can merge the two styles well, this presentation method will be awesome.
Before starting my ISP, I researched some images for the cells under microscope and the MTR at peak hour to make sure they look quite similar in density and the shapes, which means some people are larger in body and look like the cells with a lot of liquid inside. Therefore, I can transform the cells into the people by using these similarities by drawing the animation.
Snack and Drink is about the record of a teenager who goes to buy snack and drink. It is animated by various of animators so the styles of the scenes look different from others.
The mixed style looks surrealistic and a bit creepy, which is the style I like. Taking this as the mixed style, my ISP is going to be as weird style as this one. This can let me experiment more on different styles in order to find the most suitable one.
It inspires to have courage to make something different for the animation as even this combines styles from different artists, the scenes do not like separated.
The text in the above website illustrates the property and characteristics of cells, like cells have three stages in different situations, "hypertonicity", "hypotonicity" and "isotonicity".
By adding the different stages it portrayed, the animation of the cells become more reliable by imitating the cells movement in different concentration.
Moreover, the shrinking and swelling process can be used as the transformation adn transaction from the cells to the congested MTR.
